American media proprietor, talk show host, actress, producer and philanthropist Oprah Winfrey is in India for a week and it seems that the country, especially Bollywood, is going gaga over her.
Within few hours of arriving in Mumbai, Oprah headed towards the Bachchan residence, perhaps to meet the new arrival in the Bachchan family. After spending an hour there, superstar Amitabh Bachchan himself drove the lady to a private party hosted in her honor by acclaimed Indian socialite Parmeshwar Godrej.
Clad in a beautiful orange saree, believed to be gifted and then draped by Aishwarya, Oprah was accompanied by the entire Bachchan clan including son Abhishek and mother Jaya.
The party saw almost every big celebrity of tinsel town including Shahrukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Priety Zinta, Lara Dutta, Shilpa Shetty, Anil Kapoor, Imran Khan, Neha Dhupia, Sameera Reddy, Hrithik Roshan, Kangna Ranaut, Dino Morea, Ashutosh Gowariker, Javed Akhtar along with wife Shabana Azmi and children Farhan and Zoya Akhtar, Arjun Rampal among others.
Also present were novelist Shobha De, business tycoon Anil Ambani along with wife Tina Ambani and jewelry designer Farah Khan Ali etc.
Although, the stars refrained themselves from media during the party, however, many of them took to twitter to express their greetings and excitement.
“The gracious Oprah Winfrey visits our home, to meet us and bless the baby... warm hearted, endearing... drive her to the party in her honour. And Oprah in sari.. looking lovely!!, ” Amitabh Bachchan wrote on twitter.
Mom-to-be Lara Dutta went one step ahead and even posted a picture of her along with Shahrukh Khan and Oprah. She tweeted “@Oprah and @iamsrk, two people I absolutely adore! Thankyou for making my day! Now can go into labour happily!, ”
“Tonight was dinner at the Godrej House with Oprah Winfrey. Nice to see her wear a beautiful Sari. Also nice to see Ash out after so long!, ”, said Priety Zinta.
Shobha De in her ever so sarcastic style tweeted, “Oprah conquers Mumbai! SRK tells her she is the biggest star in India. Country's A-list queues up for pics with sari-clad celeb. O is WOW!”.
“Butterflies in my stomach as I get ready to meet my inspiration @Oprah. Did not feel this way even when I met my first boyfriend haha, ” jewelery designer Farah Khan Ali tweeted.
On the other hand, the ‘lady in focus’ tweeted, “@FarahKhanAli was so great meeting you and all the beautiful Bollywooders. Directors, poets, screenwriters, what a nite!” and “@FarahKhanAli just opened your gift.. WOW! What a fun nite, eh?.
On Tuesday, Winfrey toured a slum in the Colaba neighborhood close to the Taj Palace hotel where she is staying. This visit was an endeavor to get a broad view of all facets of the country.
The traffic came to a standstill and people gathered to see the lady even though when many of them didn’t know who she actually was.
She was taken around by Gregory David Roberts, the Australian author best known for his novel Shantaram in which he talks about the tumultuous life in Mumbai.
Oprah is in India for her new show ‘Oprah’s Next Chapter’ in which she would travel around the world, interviewing celebrities, news-makers and others.
In India, she would interview the internationally acclaimed writer and public speaker and spiritual guru Dr. Deepak Chopra. Apparently, a part of her show would be shot at Taj Mahal and Agra Fort.
Oprah is also expected to visit the upcoming Jaipur Literary Festival commencing from Jan 20.

The celebrations of 100 years of Indian cinema will be flagged off at the seventh edition of Chevrolet Apsara Awards at Mumbai's Yash Raj Studios Jan 25. As a special segment of the celebrations, the awards night will showcase a special tribute dedicated to the legends of Indian cinema and their glorious years in Bollywood. A melody of hits will showcase hit songs from the yesteryears and the stars that emulated the iconic onscreen characters.The celebrations are being organised by the Film and Television Producers Guild of India in association with Wizcraft International Entertainment and channel Colors, as Indian cinema completes a century in 2013, ever since "Raja Harishchandra" was made in 1913."The Apsara Film and Television Producers Guild Awards is an effort to mark the success of the growing Indian entertainment Industry. We are very excited to honour and felicitate that group of incredible people who have continued to make a significant contribution to this industry, " Ramesh Sippy, president, The Film and Television Producers Guild, said in a press statement. "This year too, we hope to inspire and empower achievers from the fraternity, especially with the entertainment industry all set to welcome the 100 years of Indian cinema, " he added.Filmmaker Mukesh Bhatt, senior vice-president of the Guild, said: "I am extremely delighted to be part of the celebrations marking 100 years of Indian cinema. The celebrations have only just begun and we look forward to another great year of movies and entertainment." The awards night is expected to draw the who's who from the Hindi film and TV industry.

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt confirmed Thursday that the leading lady of the movie is Indian Canadian porn star Sunny Leone. "Sunny Leone is the heroine of Pooja Bhatt's 'JISM 2'. Now watch this brave girl unfold her soul and rise higher and higher, " Bhatt wrote on his Twitter page. Leone came to the limelight in India with her stint in the fifth season of controversial reality show "Bigg Boss". She was offered a role in the movie when Bhatt entered the show briefly to meet her. But the nature of her role was kept under wraps so far. Leone is upbeat about bagging the lead role."Hey everyone! So excited to be working on 'JISM 2'.
